Neyen is assisting Côte d’Ivoire in the implementation of a national carbon market framework aligned with the tenets of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This involves the formulation of both a comprehensive carbon market policy and a robust institutional framework.
Through a comprehensive analysis of national policies and regulations, development of institutional arrangements, and operational procedures, Neyen is assisting Côte d’Ivoire in its ambition to develop a carbon market framework and participate in cooperative approaches under the principles of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Côte d’Ivoire required both technical assistance and capacity building to develop a unique, global and inclusive carbon market framework. Unique, as it will need to be tailored to the unique circumstances of the country, global, as it will need to cover all carbon market and non-market mechanisms, and inclusive as it will need to implicate all relevant stakeholders along the process.
With the support of the government, the first co-creation workshop led to the development of a first final version of the carbon market framework.
Côte d’Ivoire will establish a comprehensive global carbon market framework, offering guidelines to stimulate private sector involvement in the country’s top priority areas. Moreover, the country will gain access to Article 6 collaborative methods, facilitating the acquisition of otherwise inaccessible technologies that bolster sustainable development and bring about transformative change within specific sectors.
